Behind the scenes: Brewing of the Lehigh Valley Beer Week 2019 beer

Three kinds of hops, lactose, grain, yeast and water are doing their thing to become the official beer of Lehigh Valley Beer Week 2019.

Members of the Lehigh Valley Brewers Guild got together Friday morning at Weyerbacher Brewing Co. to put their collaborative recipe into action. It’s their third straight year joining forces to make the beer week beer, called Guildy Pleasure III this time around.

“We’re making a hazy IPA. It’s got a continental hop profile so we’ve got some from New Zealand, some from continental Europe and some from the U.S.,” said Matty Snyder, head brewer at Weyerbacher in Easton.

In its seventh year, Beer Week runs Feb. 16-23 at participating bars across the Lehigh Valley and into Upper Bucks. Around 50 taprooms, bars and restaurants have taken part in the past. And while applications are still being taken for this year, organizers expect similar interest.
